Shakespeare Identified: in Edward De Vere the Seventeenth Earl of Oxford. J. Thomas Looney.

Shakespeare Identified: in Edward De Vere the Seventeenth Earl of Oxford

London: Cecil Palmer, 1920. First Edition. Scarce first edition of Looney's book that originated the Oxfordian theory, which claims that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford (1550–1604) was the true author of Shakespeare's plays. No copies have come to auction in over 60 years.

The Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship stated, perhaps somewhat self-interestedly, "Shakespeare Identified remains the most revolutionary book on Shakespeare ever written."
