Coloniae [Amsterdam]: Apud Cornel. ab Egmond [Blaeu], 1634. Adultery, Blasphemy, Vice, and like, never looked so good. A lovely Jesuit emblem book with engraved title page and 23 full-page engravings of sinful behavior based on the letters of the alphabet by Raphael Sadeler. “Elaborate pictures, with peeps into Hell and glimpses of Heaven” Praz, Studies in Seventeenth-Century Imagery, pg. 195 (2nd ed., 1975).

16mo. [24], [1]-949pp., [10]. Paginates to the Oxford copy; cf. De Backer-Sommervogel III, 192-193 (noting 1018-page edition); Landwehr 254 (same). A review of Worldcat suggests the 949-page edition is much scarcer than the 1018-page edition.
Very good in contemporary vellum with ink title to spine with some soiling and cracking of the vellum at the spine, contents generally clean with scattered foxing. Item #208

Price: $450.00
