The Club, or a Dialogue between Father and Son.

London: Printed for the Proprietor by John Johnson, 1817. One of only 18 unnumbered copies on white Chinese paper, which is mounted on larger vellum paper with a Greek motif border, all within another border of vines and leaves. Extensively illustrated with woodcuts by Thurston. Kohlmetz, who provided a bibliography of Puckle’s Club, referred to the copies on Chinese paper as a “most sumptuous and noble book.”

Very good in circa early 20th-century full levant morocco ruled in gilt, spine elaborately tooled and lettered in gilt, raised bands, gilt inner dentelles, top edge gilt, by Riviere & Son. Spine a bit sunned, some rubbing to edges and extremities, front hinge cracked, some foxing and soiling within. Item #204
