London: John Murray, 1851. First Edition. Half leather over marbled boards. First Edition. While this work has long been forgotten, and even in its own time was a slow seller, requiring over 20 years before a reprint was needed, some reviews saw it as a work of genius. Theodore Watts-Dunton stated in his introduction to the 1893 edition that "there are passages in Lavengro which are unsurpassed in the prose literature of England."
3 volumes. Wolff 598. Half titles present in vols. 1 and 2; frontispiece present; lacking ads, otherwise collates per Wolff. Very good. Item #11
